Located on the first floor of MDH, the Laboratory uses state-of-the-art
technology to provide clinical laboratory and surgical pathology procedures
that aid in diagnosis and treatment. Working closely with pathologists,
the experienced MDH Laboratory staff takes pride in providing accurate
information and timely results for patients and medical staff. For more

Routine laboratory test results are typically available in the MDH Patient
Portal within 24-48 hours.

Hours of Service
Public Laboratory hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
Outpatient testing on Saturday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the MDH Drive-Thru.
Patients must register in our Admitting/Registration Department before
coming to the Laboratory for tests. Outpatient registration on Saturday
is inside the MDH Drive-Thru. Patients needing a lab blood draw on Sundays
can have that performed at the MDH Convenience Clinic inside Health Services
Building 2 (open 8 a.m.-4 p.m.).
Some specialty tests must be scheduled. Routine Urine Drug Collections
are performed 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday-Friday.
New Pricing for High Deductible Insurance Plans
Patients with a doctor’s order needing laboratory testing done, but
have a high deductible insurance plan or no insurance, can take advantage of
discounted prices for self-pay.
Those using the self-pay service (check or credit card payments accepted
at the time of service) cannot have these tests also run through their
insurance plan for payment.

and families can access competitive pricing for lab testing, effortlessly
paying at the time of service,” said Director of Laboratory Services
Brittany Doll MS, HTL(ASCP). “This initiative not only simplifies
the payment process but underscores the hospital's commitment to putting
patient well-being at the forefront."
Patients can take advantage of this new self-pay service at the MDH Laboratory,
located on the first floor of the hospital, or at the MDH Drive-Thru (open
Monday-Saturday).
Pathology
Dr. Jennifer Jones serves as the Department Chairperson and Medical Director
of the Pathology Department. Dr. Jones also oversees the Pathology support
MDH receives from five Board Certified Pathologists representing the West
Central Pathology Specialists group from Quincy, Illinois. This construct
will provide MDH with the highest level of Pathology expertise and support
available while creating a staffing level commensurate with the needs
of the organization and patients.
Accreditation
The MDH Laboratory is accredited by the Commission of Laboratory Accreditation
of the College of American Pathologists (CAP). During the CAP accreditation
process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality
control procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine
the entire staff’s qualifications, the laboratory’s equipment,
facilities, safety program and records, as well as the overall management
of the laboratory. This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically
ensure the highest standard of care for the laboratory’s patients.
The MDH Laboratory is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited laboratories
nationwide.
