Special Pricing Heart CT Scans Available During February

MACOMB, Ill. – To celebrate American Heart Month in February, McDonough District Hospital announced a special price on the heart CT scans.

Patients can schedule a heart CT scan through the Radiology Department for $79 dollars during February (normally $99). This is a self-pay test and must be paid for in advance or at the time of the appointment.

According to the American Heart Association, almost half of all heart-related deaths occur in people with no previous history of heart disease symptoms. This simple heart CT scan serves as a coronary calcium scoring screening that may help identify individuals who may need treatment. A calcium-score screening test uses computerized tomography (CT) to detect calcium deposits in the coronary arteries.

“Heart disease continues to rank among one of the most common health issues we face, and there are steps you can take to help prevent this,” said Director of Radiology Milton Griffin, RT (R), BS, MA. “If you have a family history of heart disease, you may benefit from the CT heart scan.”

Test results are read by the Radiologist, and patients have the option of following up with their primary care provider or Kelsi Cunningham, FNP-C with MDH Cardiology.

“Heart CT calcium scoring is a valuable tool for assessing your risk of heart disease. By detecting the presence of calcium in your coronary arteries, it provides valuable insights into your heart health and helps identify potential issues early on. With this information, you and your healthcare provider can develop a personalized plan to manage your risk factors and improve your heart health,” said Nicole Minnis, RT (R), RVT, RDMS, RDCS, Director of MDH Cardiopulmonary. “Don’t wait until symptoms appear; take control of your heart health today with a calcium scoring heart CT.”

Patients wanting to schedule an appointment can call (309) 836-1550. Appointment times are available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. or after regular hours by special request.
