Regardless of the severity of your condition, MDH's Emergency Services staff is ready to respond around the clock. Our emergency room is staffed by board certified physicians and advanced practice providers, through a partnership with Envision Physician Services, and nurses and medical technicians trained in advanced life support, pediatric advanced life support and trauma care.
Our staff has the skills and expertise to treat and stabilize cardiac and stroke patients. We maintain a partnership with hospitals in all surrounding areas to assure you or your loved one can be transferred to cardiac cath centers or to receive thrombolytic intervention for stroke if needed.
Stroke Ready. Additionally, Emergency Services is designated as a Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). This designation requires education for staff, specific medications and diagnostic imaging at the ready for accurate and prompt diagnosis.
Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics. MDH Emergency Services is also a designated Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) by the IDPH and by the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC). MDH emergency has been a designated EDAP facility since the late 1990s. MDH Emergency Services has stringent policies and procedures in place to assure the staff has the most updated training and equipment needed for the care of pediatric patients.
Aside from life threatening situations, state law prohibits hospitals from treating minor children without first obtaining permission from the child's parents or legal guardian. This law is designed to protect all parties involved. By completing the Authorization to Treat a Minor form, care can be provided without delay.
