MDH Offering Community CPR Classes in 2024

MACOMB, Ill. - McDonough District Hospital will offer four different community CPR classes during the 2024 calendar year. All classes will be held in the Auditorium (lower level) at MDH.

The four classes are scheduled to be held:

  • Tuesday, March 12 (9 a.m.-12 p.m.)
  • Tuesday, June 18 (1-4 p.m.)
  • Thursday, August 29 (9 a.m.-12 p.m.)
  • Thursday, September 26 (1-4 p.m.)

Pre-registration and a $50 fee are required. Participants need only attend one class, but to become certified, individuals will need to pass a written and skills test. The certification for a Healthcare Provider is two years.

The class will entail:

  • 1 & 2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
  • Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant
  • Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant
  • Relief of choking for adult, child and infant
  • CPR with an advanced airway as well as if patient does not have an advanced airway using equipment you would find in a public setting

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a life-saving technique to be used if someone would choke, stop breathing or experience cardiac arrest. This class offers adult, child and infant techniques for CPR and obstructed airway. Instruction for the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) will also be covered.
