MACOMB, Ill. – McDonough District Hospital announced Courtney McCredie, MSN-ML, RN, joined the organization as its new Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer, and it has removed the interim title and named Sherri Hitchcock as Vice President/Chief Financial Officer.
McCredie brings nearly 20 years of healthcare administration experience to the hospital.
“We had a list of extremely qualified candidates interested in our Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer position. As we evaluated and interviewed candidates Courtney’s nursing and administrative experience stood out,” said MDH President & Chief Executive Officer Bill Murdock. “She brings a wide-range of clinical and administrative leadership roles and responsibilities to our hospital and has hit the ground running. We’re excited to have Courtney on our leadership team.
“I want to also recognize the work that Amber Depoy, RN, MSN-LM, MBA-HM did serving as our interim CNO over the prior eight months. She served an extended tenure due to our leadership changes but we appreciate all she has done for MDH,” said Murdock.
McCredie comes to MDH from the University of Iowa Health Network where she served in Nursing Administration. While at the U of I, she participated in the hospital’s Quality Council, Infection Control and Education, and Ethics Committees. McCredie also developed and maintained objectives, policies, procedure manuals, operational plans, and quality assurance programs for all clinical services.
McCredie worked as the Vice President of Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer at Mercy Iowa City Rehabilitation Hospital. She played a key role on the administration team that planned and opened the new free-standing rehabilitation hospital as part of the expansion plan for Mercy Iowa City.
During her tenure, she established a recruitment plan for physicians to a hospital that ranked nationally for patient satisfaction, including a #1 ranking in the region. McCredie also managed operational oversight of the hospital’s quality and compliance efforts.
As a registered nurse, she worked as the Director of Healthcare Services for MB Healthcare, Revenue Cycle Manager and also Director of Clinic Operations for the Adult Primary and Specialty Clinic at Mercy, a Clinic Administrator at the U of I, and Clinic Operations Manager for Internal Medicine & Critical Care at Magnolia CC & Internal Medicine.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Management & Leadership from Western Governors University. McCredie also completed an Advanced Management Series certificate from the University of Iowa.
Hitchcock had been serving as the interim Chief Financial Officer following the promotion of Bill Murdock to President and Chief Executive Officer.
She has worked at MDH for 12 years working in various Fiscal roles, most recently Director of Fiscal Services for five years prior to her promotion as interim Vice President of Finance.
“Sherri has done an excellent job as our interim VP of Finance. Of our applicant pool for the permanent Vice President position, Sherri stood out among all the candidates with her strong healthcare experience and management style,” said Murdock. “She brings many years of finance experience to this Vice President role, both here at MDH in healthcare but also from a manufacturing background. I know she will do a great job helping us navigate the ongoing fiscal challenges of being a not-for-profit small, independent rural community hospital.”
Prior to joining the hospital, she worked at NTN-Bower Corporation locally for 14 years. She began as an Accounting Clerk before moving on as a Human Resources Representative and eventually as the Payroll Accountant for three years.
Hitchcock has earned three degrees from Western Illinois University - two bachelor degrees (Human Resource Management and Accounting), and a master’s degree in Community Health Education.
Hitchcock has one daughter, Kayla.
