Nurse Practitioners Kellie Jones & Christina Chambers join MDH Medical Group

MACOMB, Ill. – McDonough District Hospital welcomes Kellie Jones, FNP-C, DNP, and Christina Chambers, FNP-C to its primary care medical staff.

Jones will join the Bushnell Family Practice on a full-time basis, working with John Arnold, MD. Chambers will assist at the various primary care clinics in Macomb, Bushnell, and Monmouth.

Jones joins MDH after working as a registered nurse since 2007 at the Knoxville (Iowa) Hospital and Clinics. She worked in the Emergency Room, Surgery, and Cardiopulmonary departments during her tenure, and also served as a nursing supervisor.

She spent nine years as an inpatient registered nurse in Rochester, Michigan with the Crittenton Hospital Medical Center, including time in the ICU.

For the past five years, Jones served on the nursing faculty at William Penn University, teaching theory and clinical nursing classes. She created nursing curriculum and assisted to build the nursing program at William Penn. During that same timeframe she also taught nursing classes at Purdue Global in Des Moines and Des Moines Area Community College.

She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from St. Clair County Community College, then a Bachelor’s in Nursing at William Penn. Jones continued her education with a Master’s in Nursing Education from Walden University and Doctor of Nursing Practice at Purdue Global. Earlier this year she earned her Master’s in Family Practice from Chamberlain University.

Bringing 20 years of nursing experience to MDH, Chambers also earned her Master’s in Family Practice from Chamberlain University. She received her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Chamberlain and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Carl Sandburg College.

Born and raised in the Galesburg/Monmouth area, and a current resident of the area, she worked for seven years at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.

Chambers has experience working with primary care, wound care, employment physicals, and home health care – including palliative care/geriatric and nursing home. She is a Certified DOT medical examiner and also certified in hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Chambers is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nurses.
