Dr. Laura Peck Joins MDH General Surgery

MACOMB, Ill. – McDonough District Hospital announced the hiring of Laura Peck, DO to MDH General Surgery.
She joins MDH Chief Medical Officer Dr. Edwin Card in the Surgical Services clinic and is accepting new patients.
“We are excited to have Dr. Laura Peck, General Surgeon, join the MDH team. After her General Surgery program, she completed an additional year of training in minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Peck will be seeing patients in the Surgical Services clinic, performing surgeries and assisting with call coverage,” said Peter Rao, Vice President of the MDH Medical Group. “Her addition to the MDH team will improve access for patients in the community, and she will be a great addition to the outstanding General Surgery department.”
Dr. Peck recently completed a Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship with Ascension St. John’s in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan. She has focused on operations in the field of minimally invasive, such as: bariatric, colorectal, and upper and lower endoscopy.
She served as the Administrative Chief, General Surgery Resident at the Swedish Medical Center in Denver, Colorado, and served as a Surgery Resident at Saint Louis University. Dr. Peck performed and assisted in a variety of operations, including: minimally invasive, general, trauma, thoracic, vascular, and transplant surgical procedures. Dr. Peck graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.

She brings an impressive medical skill set to MDH, and with her personality and educational background you can see why she relates well with patients and their families,” said Dr. Card.
Dr. Peck graduated from the University of Missouri, Kansas City with two bachelor degrees (English/Creative Writing and Chemistry) and a master’s degree (Social Work).
