MACOMB, Ill. – The McDonough District Hospital Obstetrics Department welcomed the first baby of 2021 on Monday morning (Jan. 4).
Karter Joe Wittler was born at 7:53 a.m. He weighed 9 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 20-1/4 inches. He is the son of Lee and Abby Wittler. Drs. Tamara Smith and Nicholas Viyuoh assisted with the delivery.
“Dr. (Tamara) Smith and the staff at MDH are one of a kind. They make you feel like family, which is very comforting, especially with all the changes due to the pandemic,” said Abby. “We really couldn’t believe Karter was the first baby of 2021 at MDH, but we were very happy. Karter has already made 2021 amazing.”
Karter was the first New Year’s baby born within the Dolores Kator Switzer Women’s Center, completed in February 2020.
