MACOMB, Ill. – Due to inclement weather in the forecast, McDonough District Hospital announced Friday (Feb. 5) that COVID-19 testing will move to a temporary location.
On Sunday (Feb. 7), individuals needing a COVID-19 test can check-in at the MDH Emergency Department. Patients who enter the Emergency Department for just a COVID-19 test will not get charged for an Emergency Room visit.
MDH has designated a special waiting area in the Emergency Department for those needing a COVID-19 test performed.
To help speed up the registration process, patients needing a COVID-19 test can call ahead to (309) 836-1753 and pre-register during normal testing hours.
The COVID testing hours of operation will remain the same, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
MDH will continually monitor the weather forecast, and this temporary move to the Emergency Department could continue further into the week. MDH will communicate any change in COVID-19 testing location on its MDH.org website and social media channels.
The MDH Laboratory will continue to offer the BinaxNow Rapid Antigen COVID-19 test for those patients who meet the criteria:
- Patients must have symptoms related to COVID-19
- Patients must be in their first 7 days of infection
- Patients MUST have an order from their primary care provider for a Rapid test.
- Patients must have a confirmatory simple nasal swab collected at the same time as the Rapid test. This confirmatory swab will be sent for confirmation testing on negatives.
