MACOMB, Ill. – Six years ago McDonough District Hospital entered an agreement with Crothall Healthcare and Morrison Healthcare to contract for environmental services and food service work. MDH announced that as of December 7, both services will return in-house.
The move is projected to provide significant financial savings for the organization. According to MDH Vice President/Chief Financial Officer Bill Murdock, this change is one that has been evaluated and discussed for months to gauge how it would benefit the hospital.
“We are excited to return both essential service lines under the direction of McDonough District Hospital,” said Murdock. “As MDH continues to improve services in a challenging healthcare environment, this strategic modification made sense to strengthen our future viability with yearly savings for the hospital exceeding $500,000.”
Bringing both service lines back to MDH will result in around 40 jobs combined.
All Crothall (environmental services) and Morrison (food service) employees currently working at MDH are eligible and encouraged to apply for their current position within the hospital. MDH also encourages people outside of the organization to apply.
“Along with the positive financial impact, patient, employee, and community satisfaction scores were instrumental in our decision to return these services in-house. We are looking forward to building upon our labor force to take MDH to the next level,” said Murdock.
