MACOMB, Ill. – Before summer activities take over the schedule, call the MDH Medical Group to schedule a school or sports physical for the 2019-2020 school year. School physicals are required for those entering kindergarten, 6th or 9th grades, while sports physicals are required each year before the competitive season begins.
MDH offers appointments specifically for physicals at three convenient locations, including:
Pediatric nurse practitioner and primary care provider Julie Bartlow emphasized the importance of a regular visit with a primary care provider.
“School and sports physicals are a great opportunity for parents and providers to connect on an annual basis and discuss how their child is developing,” said Bartlow, CPNP-PCP, NNP-BC.
Additionally, physicals allow providers the opportunity to discuss healthy lifestyle habits as well as identify acute or life threatening medical conditions that require a treatment plan, such as uncontrolled blood pressure, cardiac issues, eating disorders, or certain lung conditions.
