MACOMB, Ill. – A special celebration has been taking place this week of May 6-12 at McDonough District Hospital. Not only is MDH honoring National Hospital Week, but it is also using the week to kick off celebrations for its 60th Anniversary.

On June 30, 1958, MDH opened its doors to McDonough County and the surrounding area. Over the past 60 years, MDH has expanded its healthcare services, added primary care providers and specialists, and gone through several facility expansions – most recently the Dolores Kator Switzer Women’s Center currently underway.

During this week MDH celebrates all the women and men who support the health, healing and well-being of their communities through dedication and service to others. Special events and giveaways for employees will continue throughout the week. “Caring is our Calling” is the theme for this year’s National Hospital Week celebration.

“McDonough District Hospital has meant so much to the people in Macomb and McDonough County over the past 60 years. National Hospital Week is our opportunity to thank every one of our patients for trusting us with their well-being,” said MDH President/CEO Kenny Boyd. “It has been an honor for me to be affiliated with such an outstanding organization with caring employees. MDH thanks you and looks forward to serving people for the next 60 years and beyond.”

MDH will have special public promotions over the next few months to celebrate 60 years of serving the people of McDonough County and west-central Illinois and honor all the staff – past and present – who helped make the hospital what it is today.
