MDH Welcomes New Physicians

Macomb— McDonough District Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of general surgeon James Gonzales, MD, and pathologist Jennifer Jones, MD, to the McDonough Medical Group (MMG). Gonzales joins Drs. Card, Ruiz & Whitley with the MDH Surgical Associates, and Jones will serve in the MDH Laboratory starting September. 1

MDH invites the community to a welcome reception for Dr. Gonzales and Dr. Jones on Wednesday, September 10 from 2:00-4:00 PM in the MDH Auditoriums, lower level.

Dr. Gonzales completed his medical degree at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. He finished his internship in general surgery from the University of California at San Francisco before completing his residency in general surgery from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.

As a general surgeon, Dr. Gonzales is skilled in the surgical treatment of a number of diseases and disorders, which include hernias, breast tumors, gallstones, appendicitis, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, colon inflammation and colon cancer. Prior to joining MDH, Gonzales worked at Kingman Regional Medical Center in Kingman Arizona since 2009, where he served as Trauma Medical Director.

Dr. Jones completed her medical degree from Southern Illinois University, Springfield. She finished her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in Muncie, Indiana prior to completing a fellowship in Cytopathology from Indiana University Medical Center. Before joining MDH, Jones spent nine years at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital as a staff Pathologist, director of Cytopathology and surgical pathology.
