Bushnell, IL -- A new facility for medical services in Bushnell will be constructed through a cooperative agreement between McDonough District Hospital (MDH), the City of Bushnell and the Bushnell Economic Development Corporation.

Officials from the three organizations made the announcement August 6, at a groundbreaking event located on a five acre site at the north edge of Bushnell on Highway 41. The MDH McDonough Medical Group (MMG) facility will house the Bushnell Family Practice of Dr. John Arnold, and include space for future hospital provided services and an ambulance substation.

“Working with community leaders in Bushnell we are pleased to provide increased medical services in a new, expanded location to serve northeastern McDonough County and adjacent areas,” said Kenny Boyd, President/CEO of MDH.

Architects working with MDH developed plans for the 5,800 square foot facility. Construction of the estimated $1.6 million project will begin late summer with anticipated completion in early 2014.

The Bushnell Council approved the purchase of the 5.006 acres from Larry and Judy McLouth for $100,120, the cost will be paid equally by Bushnell City and Bushnell Economic Development organization.

“We see this location and facility as an investment in the future of medical services for our community,” said Bushnell Economic Development Corporation President Steve Holland. “The site provides sufficient space to add other services which serve the health care needs of Bushnell area residents.”

“The City of Bushnell is pleased to provide utilities to this new location as we invest in our health care infrastructure,” said Bushnell Mayor Jim Evans.
