Macomb, IL – The McDonough District Hospital Board entered into an agreement with Laverdiere Construction of Macomb to expand Health Services Building 2 at a cost of $3,724,955.
The expansion will provide office space for Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist Dr. Jeff Sparks, who has entered into an agreement with MDH to begin practice following the completion of his residency in summer 2013.
Space for Sparks and three other physician practice offices to accommodate 6 or 7 doctors are included in the construction agreement approved by the MDH Board at a June 12 meeting. The project will include two floors for office space and a full basement. The building will utilize the existing lobby space and elevator system in HSB 2. The ENT office will be finished first while other spaces will remain unfinished so future practices can have input on modification of the space. At the conclusion of the building project the parking lot used for construction staging will be resurfaced.
The Board previously approved a plan to negotiate a construction agreement in accordance with provisions of the Hospital District Law. An independent third party estimate for the project was obtained as part of the building process.
“The project will help us prepare for future physician recruitment and the potential for consolidation of current employed physicians which we have in numerous office spaces in the Health Services Building,” said MDH President/CEO Kenny Boyd.
Negotiating the project with the assistance of architects and third party estimators allowed us to efficiently outline the building’s basic shell and improvements, according to Boyd.
Work is expected to begin in July with completion estimated for May 2013.
