MDH Convenient Care Ribbon Cutting Held

MACOMB – McDonough District Hospital Convenient Care, a walk-in non-emergency healthcare clinic, held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday, August 23 at the Macomb Hy-Vee store. Representatives from MDH, Hy-Vee and Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Development Corporation were there to celebrate the opening of convenient care.

MDH Convenient Care opened the doors for the first time to patients Monday, August 22, seeing 16 patients in the first day of operation. The clinic is located in space adjacent to the store service center with an entranceway immediately accessible to the parking lot. There are two treatment rooms and a small waiting area. Operating hours are from 9 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm Saturdays and 10 am to 4 pm Sundays. Individuals who may not have access to primary care physicians and/or are in need of health care assistance for illness, minor injuries and ailments will be treated on a walk-in, non-appointment basis.

The three health care professionals who will provide coverage for the clinic include; Jan Whitehead, FNP-C, Sue Adams, APN, and Melissa Pounder, FNP. MDH Convenient Care will accept most insurance plans including Medicare and Medicaid. Convenient care service costs are less than an emergency room visit and patient fees start at $54.

A sample of services to be offered includes treatment of general cold/flu-like symptoms, allergy symptoms, minor injuries, burns, skin conditions, cholesterol screenings, sports physicals, vaccinations and some lab tests. A list of services is available on the MDH website www.mdh.org.
