The McDonough District Hospital Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to support patient care and comfort at MDH. Our mission at the MDH Foundation is to cultivate philanthropic relationships that enhance the hospital's ability to fulfill its vision.
MDH is a not-for-profit organization that has not taxed the community since 1989, and there are no owners or shareholders who profit from operations. MDH serves everyone regardless of their ability to pay. Through the years, the delivery and funding for healthcare services have changed dramatically due to rapid advances in technology, expansion for needed services, and fluctuating levels of state and federal reimbursement. The MDH Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization formed to assist the hospital in providing strong support to continue the tradition of caring.
The MDH Foundation's mission is to support and enhance the hospital's ability to fulfill its mission. As such, the MDH Board of Directors directs Foundation dollars to specific areas where donated funds will yield the biggest impact. Donors may also designate their gift to a current capital improvement project, equipment, or towards a particular program or service the hospital provides. Many such "restricted" accounts have been established.
Established in 1996, the MDH Development Council supported and enhanced services and care provided by McDonough District Hospital for 18 years. In 2014, the Development Council officially transitioned to become the McDonough District Hospital Foundation to further support the hospital's mission, vision, and core values. The MDH Foundation is comprised of over 100 community and business leaders, employees, and medical staff. In addition to providing financial support to the hospital, the Foundation also serves as a working link between the hospital and the community by increasing health education, involvement, and communication between MDH and the community.
