The voluntary support system to MDH. You are invited to join the Auxiliary. The Auxiliary welcomes all members! Whatever amount of time or talents you can give will be greatly appreciated.
The Auxiliary's mission is to raise funds to support the Auxiliary Scholarships program. This program has continued to grow through the years since it started in 1959 and is now the main focus of the funds raised by the Auxiliary and the Gift Gallery located in MDH. In recent years this program has been able to give out $15,000-$20,000 in scholarships annually to qualified applicants who are enrolled in programs leading to careers in health-related fields. Applications are due annually in the spring and can be downloaded here. Currently the fundraising is organized by the Auxiliary to MDH Activities Committee.
The Auxiliary to MDH Activities Committee is a group of volunteers from the Auxiliary who have come together to help continue the Auxiliary's mission of raising funds to support the Auxiliary Scholarships program. The Auxiliary to MDH Activities Committee's purpose is to meet regularly to brainstorm ideas for new fundraising events and then organize and run those events throughout the year. The fundraising events are rewarding not only for the Scholarships program, but also for the volunteers who participate. Members of the Activities Committee get to enjoy each others' company and work as a team, while having fun and raising funds at different events (raffles, bake sales, Heritage Days Booth, Memorial Angel Tree and more).
The Auxiliary to MDH was incorporated on December 13, 1957, one year before the hospital opened. The charter members were all women who helped make beds, gave tours, and did whatever was needed for the opening of the hospital. Gradually this organization broadened its mission and voted to admit men into the organization. Since the Auxiliary began it has had 23 presidents.
