Sports Medicine

Athletes look to us for expert assistance in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries as well as proper training techniques for a quick return to activity. Our highly trained staff specializes in the prevention, recognition, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses that occur to athletes and the physically active.

Our physical therapists, occupational therapists, and certified athletic trainers in the sports medicine program use a team approach to meet the needs of the community and provides a full range of services to treat athletes of all ages and levels, from youth sports through the collegiate level and from weekend warriors to fitness enthusiasts.

Patients with various neuromusculoskeletal dysfunctions receive both hands-on treatment and activity-specific exercise instruction. Our team of professionals also incorporates a patient's work, hobby, or sport activity into a custom treatment plan. Educational materials, customized home exercise plan, and models are provided to enhance our patients understanding of his or her specific diagnosis or dysfunction.

Our athletic training team works closely with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to provide coverage for high school and middle school athletic programs in the area including Astoria, Bushnell-Prairie City, Macomb, VIT, and West Prairie.

This outreach provides injury evaluation, education on proper management, a home exercise program to aid in a quick recovery and follow-up care to ensure improvement in injury status. Our athletic trainers also provide contracted game coverage and free injury screenings.
