Hours, Parking & Transportation
Visiting Hours
Visitors can be good medicine for patients. Patient care is our primary concern at McDonough District Hospital, and, in order to enhance the quality of care, general visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in patient care areas (Acute Care, Pediatrics, ICU, TCU, OB). However, allowances are made for family members and friends who would like to visit at other times unless such visits are not medically advisable for the patient.
Please inquire at the nursing station or ask a nurse if you would like to visit a patient. At 8:30 p.m. an overhead announcement is made that visiting hours are over and the front doors will lock at 9:00 p.m. After hours, visitation is limited and anyone who comes to the hospital will need to enter through the Emergency Room entrance (on the west side of the building) and must register at the ER Registration desk.
General guidelines for visitors:
• To establish and maintain the safest possible environment in which to deliver care, MDH campus buildings, property, parking lots and operated vehicles are smoke free.
• Visitors are asked to dress appropriately by wearing a shirt and shoes.
• No more than two visitors should be at the bedside at one time.
• We also request that visitors be considerate of both patients when visiting a semi-private room.
• Visits should be kept short.
• People with colds, sore throats, or any contaigious diseases should not visit patients.
• Visitors should maintain a quiet environment and avoid unnecessary noise.
• Visitors may be asked to leave the room during tests or treatments or when the doctor or nurse needs to see a patient.

Patients and visitors are strongly encouraged not to park in restricted areas, as these are designed for patient pick up or for emergencies. If you feel you need an escort to your car after dark, please ask a staff member to call security for you.
Valet Parking
Valet parking is offered to patients who are utilizing MDH services. When an attendant is on duty, a sign will be placed at the front entrance. This service is typically available Monday – Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There is no charge for the service and patients simply need to pull up to the main entrance in front of the hospital and request assistance.
