MDH OFFERS SATURDAY L.A.T.E. CHILDBIRTH CLASS

McDonough District Hospital will hold an 8-hour Saturday L.A.T.E. Class from 8:00AM to 4:30PM on February 6. This one-day class is equivalent to and will provide the same information offered in our 4-week L.A.T.E. Class series, including breathing and relaxation techniques, and a tour of the OB Department. There will be several short breaks offered during class, as well as a 30-minute lunch break.

The childbirth instruction class is designed to help you prepare for the delivery of your baby. Experienced MDH OB nurses will explain each stage of labor: Latent, Active, Transition, and Expulsion (L.A.T.E.). They will teach breathing and relaxation techniques to help make each phase of labor as manageable as possible. Using games and humor, they will make this a fun experience for you and your support person. It is recommended that you take this class 8-12 weeks before your due date.

There is no fee to attend, and the class is open to all pregnant women and their support person regardless of where they are planning to deliver. For more information and to register, contact the MDH Obstetrics Department at (309) 836-1570.

MDH also offers a full-range of childbirth and infant care courses, including breastfeeding instruction with a certified lactation consultant, and a cesarean section class which is strongly recommended for those who wish to have their support person join them in the operating room should they need a c-section. For details, contact your physician or the OB Department to request a complete brochure.
