MIDAMERICA NATIONAL BANK PLEDGES $18,000 TOWARD DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY AT MDH
MidAmerica National Bank proudly presented McDonough District Hospital with a check for $6,000 toward their three-year pledge of $18,000 to help purchase a Digital Mammography Unit in Radiology at MDH. With this gift, MidAmerica will be recognized as a “Partner” in the MDH Business Honor Roll giving club.
“MidAmerica has always been very supportive of the hospital,” said Steve Hopper, MDH President/CEO. “Their philanthropic attitude is a role model for other area businesses.”
Under the leadership of Cathy Early, Chair of the Business Relations Committee of the MDH Development Council, the committee began their Business Honor Roll Drive in January, 2009. The committee’s goal is to raise $200,000 toward the purchase of a Digital Mammography Unit. The estimated cost of this new technology is $600,000 and is planned to be purchased later this year.
This improved technology promptly creates a digital image that is visualized on a computer work station. With digital mammography, the magnification, orientation, brightness, and contrast of the mammogram image may also be altered after the exam is completed to help the radiologist more clearly see certain areas of the breast. The mammogram process for the patient remains the same but acquiring the images is faster due to the digital technology.
MidAmerica’s gift to MDH will help bring new technology to better serve the community. As a benefit, MDH health educators will provide several on-site health programs and services for MidAmerica’s employees.
