Gaytha Spolum Aide Food / Nutrition Services
Congratulations to Gaytha Spolum, Aide in Food/Nutrition Services, on being named the recipient of the MDH APPLE Award for December 2009. APPLE stands for "Achieving outstanding Performance in Patient care, Leadership, Loyalty and Enthusiasm for MDH."
Gaytha began her employment as an Aide in Food/Nutrition Services on January 22, 1990. Gaytha spends most of her time at work helping in the dish room and picking up the food carts from the floors. She also stocks many food items for the convenience of several departments throughout the hospital. Gaytha is also responsible for cleaning up a majority of the catering events for the department.
Gaytha is dedicated. Even in the middle of the night, after a small fire in the department, Gaytha was counted on to come in to work at 3:00 in the morning and help clean the kitchen. This dedication from Gaytha helped avoid interruptions to service for the Food Services’ customers. Gaytha has a work ethic that we should all model, and she is a loyal employee who takes her job very seriously.
Gaytha is a team player who gets along well with her peers. She is dependable and hardworking. She accepts change and continues to try new procedures. She is very conscientious about her job and provides good feedback about problems and solutions. She is a self-starter and adjusts to changes as they come along.
Her nominator states that Gaytha deserves to be recognized for all the hard work she does in the department. She has a way about her that just brightens her co-workers’ day. “Gaytha is a wonderful asset to MDH and a great role model.”
In her spare time, Gaytha enjoys going to the casino boat. She also adores her grandchildren.
